Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET) 2022

What is KTET?  

Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by The Office of the Commissioner of Government Examinations, Pareeksha Bhavan, Poojapura, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala,  twice in a year to check the eligibility of candidates possessing required skills to teach in Lower Primary, Upper Primary and as well as High School classes in the state of Kerala. KTET exam is conducted as per the guidelines of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Kerala along with regulations put forth by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) / Department of General Education / Government of Kerala.

The test is divided into  four categories : Category-1 (Lower Primary classes), Category-2 (Upper Primary classes), Category-3 (High School classes) and Category-4 (for Language Teachers – Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu (up to Upper primary classes), Specialist Teachers (Art & Craft) and Physical Education teachers).

KTET 2022 Eligibility Criteria for Category-1 (Lower Primary Classes)

Minimum Requirements of Qualifications

  • Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 45 percent marks and 02 years Trained Teachers Certificate (TTC) (by whatever name it is known) conducted by The Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent.

OR

  • Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 45 percent marks and 02 years Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name it is known), in accordance with NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations 2002.

OR

  • Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50 percent marks and 04 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEl.Ed).

OR

  • Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50 percent marks and 02 years Diploma in Education (Special Education).

Note: Relaxation of 5 percent in qualifying marks is admissible for candidates belonging to SC/ST and Differently abled categories. Also, relaxation of 3 per cent in qualifying marks is given to OBC & OEC candidates. Candidate who are awaiting the result of the final semester of exams like D.Ed, B.Ed etc.. also can apply for the K-TET.

KTET 2022 Eligibility Criteria for Category-2 (Upper Primary Classes)

Minimum Requirements of Qualifications

  • BA / B.Sc/ B.Com and 02 years Diploma in Elementary Education / Trained Teachers  Certificate (TTC) (by whatever name known) conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent.

OR

  • BA / B.Sc / B.Com with at least 45 per cent marks and 01 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with NCTE (Recognition, Norms and Procedure) regulations issued from time to time in this regard.

OR

  • Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and 04 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEl.Ed)

OR

  • Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and 04 year BA /B.Sc.Ed or BA.Ed or B.Sc.Ed.

Note: Relaxation of up to 5 per cent in the qualifying marks will be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC / ST and Differently abled categories. Also a 3 percent relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks is admissible for OBC & OEC candidates.

KTET 2022 Eligibility Criteria for Category-3 (High School Classes)

Minimum Requirements of Qualifications

  • BA / B.Sc /B.Com with at least 45 percent marks and a B.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned (from any one of the Universities in Kerala or have acquired these qualifications from any other Universities recognised as equivalent thereto).
  • For Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, those who have M.Sc /.M.Ed Degree in the subject concerned with not less than 50 percent marks from one of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by NCERT will be eligible to apply. For Botany and Zoology subjects, those with M.Sc / M.Ed Degree in Life Science with not less than 50 percent marks from any of the Regional Institutes of Education are also eligible to apply.
  • BA or equivalent with at least 45 percent marks and who passed in LTTC are also eligible to apply.

Additional eligibility criteria for KTET 2022 Category-II 

  • Candidates who have acquired a Diploma / Degree in teaching in any subject and are approved by Universities / NCTE / Board of Examinations / Govt. of Kerala, are eligible to apply for K-TET III. They have to produce the equivalency certificate as recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala / the Government of Kerala.
  • Candidates who have acquired their qualifications through recognised correspondence courses / Open universities should obtain and furnish certificates of recognition and equivalency from any one of the Universities in Kerala.
  • For considering the minimum qualifications, the marks for main and subsidiary papers only will be considered.

Note: Relaxation of up to 5 per cent in the qualifying marks will be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC / ST and Differently abled categories. Also a 3 percent relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks is admissible for OBC & OEC candidates to appear for the K-TET- III.

KTET 2022 Eligibility Criteria for Category-4 (Language Teachers, Specialist Teachers and Physical Education Teachers)

Candidates possessing the required qualifications for the post of Language Teachers of Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit & Urdu (up to Upper Primary level), Specialist Teachers & Physical Education Teachers as mentioned in Chapter XXXI of KERALA EDUCATION ACT AND RULES are eligible to apply for KTET-IV..

Paper Pattern for Category – I

There will be only one paper in this category. All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four distractors. Each question carries one mark. There will be four alternatives out of which one will be the correct answer.  The total number of MCQ’s shall be 150.

Qualifying Marks

Candidates who  score 60%  or  more  in  the  K-TET examination  will  be considered ‘KTET passed’  or ‘K-TET  qualified’.  This  will  be  the qualifying marks for all categories.

Negative Marks: There will be no negative marking for the test.

Kerala TET 2022 Application Filling Process

Candidates need to submit their KTET application form through online mode only on the official website (https://ktet.kerala.gov.in/). Candidate needs to register first and then fill all the required credentials such as Name, Father Name, Address, Caste, Mobile Number, EMail Address and Educational Details. Candidates need to upload their Photograph, Certificates and complete the form and proceed to the online payment on the official website. Candidates can select the district of their test centre while filling the application form for the KTET exam.

Candidates can pay KTET examination fee through Credit Card / Debit Card / Net Banking or by submitting Challan in the listed bank and take a printout of the submitted application form for future use.

 Kerala TET 2022 Admit Card Download

Once the Applications are scrutinised the department will issue Admit cards for appearing in the Test along with the Test Centre and other details. Candidates need to login on the official website and download their Admit Cards. No separate admit card will be sent to candidates by post.

 Kerala TET 2022 Result

The result for KTET will be declared on the official website (https://ktet.kerala.gov.in/). Candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the exam are declared pass and awarded the KTET certificate.
