KARTET Karnataka Teachers Eligibility Test

Karnataka Teachers Eligibility Test (KARTET) is a state-level entrance exam (for the appointment of Teachers) conducted in two papers, Paper-1 for class I  to V  and Paper 2 for class VI to VIII for the schools in Karnataka. Candidates interested to build their career in the teaching field will have to undergo a Preliminary Examination. The Board will shortlist the candidates and then the selected candidates will have to appear for Main Examination. Thereafter the shortlisted candidates who qualified the Main Examination will be called for a Common Interview.

Karnataka TET 2022 Eligibility

Candidates from Karnataka state are allowed to apply for Karnataka TET 2022. 

Age Limit: The lower age limit of the candidate will be 18 years. The upper age limit is between 35 to 40 years. There is an upper age limit relaxation will be presented to the reserved category candidates.

Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks of the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility shall be permitted to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC / ST / Cat-I  and Differently-abled.

Karnataka TET 2022 Educational Qualification

Educational Qualification for Primary Teachers (Class I to V)Educational Qualification for Upper Primary Teachers (Class VI to VIII)
The minimum qualification needed for the Primary Teachers (Class I to V) is Intermediate (Class 12th) with 50% marks (45% for reserved categories). Applicants must pass Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI. Ed) or Bachelor of Elementary Education with at least 45 – 50% of marks. Applicants who are in their Final-Year of D.EI.Ed / Bachelor of Elementary Education are also eligible to apply for Karnataka TET.The minimum qualification needed for Upper Primary Teachers (Class VI to VIII) is Bachelor’s Degree (B. A / B.Sc./ B. Com / B. Tech / BBA etc.,) with minimum 45% – 50% marks. The Candidate must pass Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI. Ed) / Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). Candidates pursuing Final-Year D.EI. Ed / B.Ed are also eligible to appear for Karnataka TET.

Karnataka TET 2022 Exam Pattern

All questions in Karnataka TET 2022 will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each Question carries one mark, with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. There is no negative marking.

There will be 02 papers of KARTET 2022

(i) Paper-I is for Teachers for classes I  to V.

(ii) Paper-II is for Teachers for classes VI to VIII.

Candidates intending to Apply  for both Papers (classes I to V and VI to VIII) will have to appear for both the papers (Paper-I & Paper-II).

Paper I (for classes I to V) : Duration of Examination- 2 ½ hours.

Karnataka TET 2022 Syllabus

  1. Child Development and Pedagogy will mainly focus on Educational Psychology of teaching and learning to the age group of 6 to 11 years. They primarily focus on the Principles of the development of children, understanding the characteristics and needs of diverse learners, Individual differences among learners, understanding differences based on a variety of language, caste, gender, community, religion etc interaction with learners and the attributes and qualities of a good facilitator of learning.
  2. Language I will focus on the medium of Instruction, Learning and acquisition, Remedial Teaching, Principles of Language Teaching, Teaching-learning materials, Textbook, multi-media materials, multilingual resource of the classroom, Role of listening and speaking, the function of language and how children use it as a tool, Evaluating language comprehension and proficiency like speaking, listening, reading and writing.
  3. Language II will focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities. The candidate may choose any one of the language as available in the language options.
  4. Mathematics will focus on the Concepts, Problem solving abilities, Geometrical, Community Mathematics, Error Analysis  and pedagogical understanding of the subjects. In all these subject the concepts are evenly distributed over different divisions of the syllabus prescribed for classes I–V by the NCERT / State.
  5. Environmental Studies will focus on the Importance & Significance of Family and Friends, Relationships, Work and Play, Animals, Plants, Food, Shelter etc..

Paper II (for classes VI to VIII) Duration of Examination –  2 ½ hours.

Karnataka TET 2022 Score / Certificate Validity

The certificate is valid for Lifetime. There is no limitation on the number of attempts for Karnataka TET exam. Applicants can appear for the exam every year to improve their score.

Karnataka TET 2022 Medium of Question Paper

The medium of question paper other than languages shall be in Kannada, English, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi, Tamil & Telugu. 

Karnataka TET 2022 Applicability

The KarTET shall apply to the schools of Karnataka Government. Schools owned and managed by the Karnataka State Government or local bodies, Aided / Un-Aided Schools shall consider the TET Conducted by the State Govt.
